Equality
At St Michael's each and every member of our school community is valued and respected. We pride ourselves in ensuring everyone is treated equally and with respect. We value each others differences and diversity and encourage all of our children to live out our school values.
The St Michael's Equality Tree is seen throughout the school and reminds both pupils and parents that we are all equal.
Our children approach discussions with maturity at St Michael's and each year group look at equality through different books. Some of the books we use include:
No outsiders in our school by Andrew Moffat
Red Rockets and Rainbow Jelly by Sue Heap and Nick Sharratt
This is our House by Michel Rosen
How to heal a broken wing by Bob Graham
The Equality Act 2010 states that is is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
